#IWillListen (2024) – 2 Miles for Maine

Day 15: You’re Never Alone – Walking for Maine

Today, on Day 15 of the #IWillListen Ruck Challenge, I walked two miles in honor of Maine’s first responders, where we lose an average of two responders to suicide each year. It’s been a long day, and tonight I’m reflecting on a moment that stopped me in my tracks.

Earlier, while searching my texts for a friend’s contact information, I came across a message shared with me by a mutual friend we lost to suicide. It’s a painful reminder of the unanswered question we all carry: Why didn’t he reach out to any of us? We’ll never know. But we all wish he had.

If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. Reach out to someone—a friend, a family member, or anyone you trust. There are more people ready to listen than you might realize. And if you don’t know where to start, reach out to me. #IWillListen.

Your life matters. Your struggles matter. And most importantly, there’s always someone who cares and is ready to help. You are never alone.
