I am participating in the 2023 Unlit Leadership Book Challenge, on LinkedIn and was having a tough time selecting my book about mentorship. Here’s the titles I narrowed it down to and ultimately how I selected the one I did. I had a final list of three I wanted to re-read and two I’ve had my eye on.
Three books about mentorship that I’ve read but considered read again.
- Entreleadership – Dave Ramsey
- Tribe of Mentors – Tim Ferris
- Leadership and Self Deception – The Arbinger Institute
Two books about mentorship that I haven’t read but want to.
- Lincoln’s Mentors: The Education of a Leader – Michael J. Gerhardt
- Leadership Rites of Passage – Rick Terrell
Ultimately, I selected “Leadership Rites of Passage” by Rick Terrell because it is 4-hours on audible and this is an incredibly busy season for me. I’m finding it difficult to set aside time to read and look forward to what I hope is a succinct look at practical mentorship guidance.
As an aside, I have read plenty of “how-to” books and articles, participated in multiple training events, and applied mentoring concepts on-the-job over the last three decades. For this book, I was looking for more of a story or narrative of how others are doing it.
