Day 10: Self-Care is Not Selfish – Walking for Minnesota
On Day 10 of the #IWillListen Ruck Challenge, I walked one mile in honor of Minnesota’s first responders, where we average one loss to suicide each year. Tonight’s message is simple but critical: self-care is not selfish.
Taking time to care for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being doesn’t mean you’re ignoring others—it means you’re ensuring you can show up for them when it matters most. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and self-care is how we refill it.
Whether it’s taking a walk, journaling, talking to a friend, or seeking professional support, self-care allows us to reset, recharge, and build resilience. It’s not indulgence—it’s maintenance, ensuring we remain “fit for function, ready for life.”
If you’ve been neglecting your own needs, this is your reminder to prioritize yourself. You matter, and your well-being is essential. Let’s normalize self-care as a strength, not a weakness.
