Day 13: Commit to Evolving – Walking for Texas
Today, on Day 13 of the #IWillListen Ruck Challenge, I walked 15 miles in honor of Texas’ first responders, where we lose an average of 15 first responders to suicide each year. My message today:
Don’t commit to me—commit to evolving. I’ll meet you there.
This morning, Jill was at yoga pursuing her fitness goal while I rucked 15 miles from our house to her at the yoga studio. With years of rucking experience, I planned my route to arrive as her session ended. I paced faster than expected, so I stopped to grab her favorite—a vanilla latte—at a coffee shop nearby.
This simple story highlights that we each evolve individually, but we’re strongest when we support one another in that growth. This applies to every relationship—coaching, parenting, friendships, marriages, business partnerships, and co-workers. When we commit to our own growth, supported by those who care about us, we create space for mutual progress. We’re better together, but only when we’re growing ourselves first.
Setting goals in all nine domains of comprehensive fitness is key to maintaining balance and harmony. While priorities shift, and some goals wait longer than others, making progress in every domain keeps us aligned and ready for life’s challenges. This morning, Jill and I worked on our goals separately—she at yoga, me on my ruck—but our shared commitment to evolving brought us back together, stronger for it.
What are you doing today to commit to your evolution? Let’s support each other in this journey. Together, we can grow, adapt, and thrive.
