Travel, Legacy & Taking Care of Yourself
Hey everyone!
Here’s a quick round-up as we head into the week ahead… Sorry I didn’t hit send on this last night. I finished it up just as we started to board and forgot to finish it up when I landed.
1. #BetterByFriday Reflection – Travel, Legacy & Taking Care of Yourself
I’m wrapping up a special road trip with my youngest son—a quick drive from Madison, WI to Austin, TX with a couple of meaningful stops. One of them was Rockwall, TX, where I finally got to show him the First Responder Suicide Prevention Monument that I helped build during my time as Chief Learning Officer at First H.E.L.P.
Even though I’ve moved on professionally, the four founders have committed to checking on the monument annually. It looks great. I also had the chance to chat with a couple of retired officers who were visiting the monument as well while we were there… It was a powerful moment, and I’m grateful I could share it with my son.

2. Staying Healthy on the Road
Travel can make healthy routines tough… but it doesn’t have to wreck your rhythm. A few things that help me stay on track:
- Stretch and move at gas stops, airports, or hotel lobbies
- Hydrate, especially if you’re stuck in climate-controlled spaces
- Pack smart snacks to avoid the vending machine vortex
- Be intentional with sleep, screen time, and breathwork
If you’re someone who travels often and still wants to take care of your health, let’s chat. I’d love to compare notes.
3. Flow with Joe – Starts July 14th!
