Christian Science

Christian Science is a religion that was founded in the late 19th century by Mary Baker Eddy in the United States. It is based on the belief that the healing power of God can be harnessed through a deep understanding of the teachings of the Bible and through the practice of prayer. The central tenet of Christian Science is that all matter is an illusion and that true reality is spiritual, not material.

Christian Science emphasizes the power of the mind and prayer to heal physical, mental and emotional ailments. Members of the religion believe that by relying on a deep spiritual understanding and the power of prayer, they can achieve healing and a greater sense of well-being. They also believe that traditional medical treatments, such as surgery or medication, are not necessary, as the power of God can heal all ailments.

While Christian Science has been criticized by some for its rejection of conventional medical treatments, it has a strong following among those who believe in its principles and have seen positive results from its practices. The Church of Christ, Scientist, the main organization representing the religion, operates churches and reading rooms around the world and publishes a weekly newspaper, the Christian Science Sentinel, which features articles about the practice of the religion and testimonials from those who have experienced healing through its teachings.

Note: this post is intended to broaden the perspective of all readers and is merely a brief introduction. I encourage you to continue to explore by seeking additional content, attending multicultural events, and through curious conversations with members of this faith.
