The Nine Domains · Physical
Physical Fitness
Building the capacity to move, work, recover, and meet the physical demands of your life.
What this domain means
Physical fitness is not about looking fit. It is about being ready for the life you actually live.
Your body is the vehicle through which you experience every other part of life. Physical fitness includes the strength to meet a demand, the mobility to move well, the energy to keep going, and the ability to recover when the work is done.
The right level of fitness is personal. It should reflect your responsibilities, goals, health, season of life, and the things you want to keep doing. The objective is not somebody else’s standard. It is greater capacity for your function.
Fit for Function, Ready for Life.
Four essential capacities
What does physical fitness include?
01
Movement
Strength, mobility, stability, balance, coordination, and the movement patterns life requires.
02
Energy
Cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, and enough work capacity to do what matters without being depleted.
03
Recovery
Sleep, rest, stress management, and the time your body needs to repair, adapt, and become more capable.
04
Fuel
Nutrition and hydration that support health, performance, recovery, and the demands of your daily life.

A useful reframe
Fitness does not mean perfection.
Physical fitness does not require six-pack abs, marathons, or living in the gym. It means developing enough strength, mobility, endurance, and recovery capacity to meet the demands of your life, with enough reserve for the unexpected.
Pause and take inventory
Where are you right now?
This is not a grade. It is a snapshot. Honest awareness gives you a useful place to begin.
- What is working well in this domain right now?
- Where do you notice pain, fatigue, limitation, or friction?
- What would one point better look like in everyday life?
- What is one action within your control this week?

Try this
Start where you are.
More is not always better. Choose the level of action that matches your capacity today, then build from there.
Right now · 2 minutes
Check in with your body.
Stand up, take three slow breaths, and move gently through your ankles, hips, shoulders, and upper back. Notice what feels ready and what feels restricted.
This week · One choice
Make one movement appointment.
Put one realistic block of movement on your calendar. Choose something useful and accessible, then protect the time as you would any other commitment.
Go deeper · Build a practice
Assess, Prep, and Prime.
Before your next workout or demanding day, assess how you move, prepare what needs attention, and prime the patterns you are about to use.
